The successful contractor for the Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) Marysville Dock project, Facca Inc, has begun with the work for the reconstruction of the Marysville Dock along Centre Street.
The purpose of this project is to provide improvements to the Wolfe Island ferry dock in Marysville, as well as an additional dolphin at the Dawson Point dock. The project scope includes new passenger, utility, and service buildings, upgrading mooring and docking facilities, additional marshalling spaces on the dock as well as pedestrian and cycling facilities.
The Wolfe Island ferry was moved to Dawson Point to ensure continuous service to ferry passengers to and from the island over the next three construction seasons (fall, winter and spring).
Work started in September 2020 and will continue throughout the year until complete. The first stage will focus the installation of floating barriers to contain lakebed materials, checking for bedrock and placing stone to allow time for it to settle in the riverbed. Once the material is placed, an enclosure will be constructed around the footprint of the dock. This project is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2023.
